The TV is a window now.

Lookout is a wall display for the living room TV. When nobody's watching anything, it shows the things worth glancing at: the time, the weather, whether the homelab is happy, the chess game I'm losing, the planes overhead, and the next rocket out of the Cape.

Two TVs, one feed.

Lookout started life as a Roku channel. When the Roku's developer installer refused to start, it got rewritten as a native Android TV app, and kept growing.

ANDROID TV · KOTLIN

tv-lookout

The main one, running on a Sony Google TV. Every page, a live Lichess board drawn locally with smooth slides, an animated weather radar, and a screensaver mode so it comes back on its own.

ROKU · BRIGHTSCRIPT

roku-lookout

The original three pages (clock, homelab, chess) as a Roku channel and screensaver. Roku allows one sideloaded channel per device, so all three ideas live in one.
